No fewer than 12,963 members of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) have decamped to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Jibia and Kaita local government areas of Katsina State.
GoldenNewsNg reports that the decampees were received at the weekend by the PDP Gubernatorial candidate of the state, Senator Yakubu Lado Danmarke and other party leaders.
Notable among the decampees include the immediate past Special Adviser to Governor Aminu Bello Masari, Alhaji Aminu Lawal Jibia, Alhaji Sa’adu Mai Gishiri Kaita and a host of other APC stalwarts in the LGA of the state.
Speaking at the event, Danmarke assured the people of Jibia and Kaita LGAs that, if elected he will restore security, peace and order in the affected areas within 100 days.
Danmarke lamented that Jibia which was known for business activities has been crippled due to the present administration’s wickedness, hatred and bad policies.
“We will Insha Allah, if elected ensure that Jibia returns to its past glory as the window of economic activities in the entire country” he vowed.
He also assured the defectors that, they would be carried along in all the party activities in the state.
In his remarks, the leader of the defectors, Alhaji Aminu Lawal Jibia alleged that “there is nothing in APC other than wickedness, hatred and malice”.
“As you can see nobody of substance is now left in the APC, both in Jibia and Kaita”, he alleged.
On his part, the state PDP chairman, Alhaji Lawal Uli assured the defectors of the Justice and fair play that the party is known for over the years.
He urged them to work hard for the success of the party in the forthcoming general elections.
The highlight of the event includes the burning of brooms which is the symbol of APC by the defectors.
