At least fourteen persons have reportedly died from a tragic road accident that happened in Kano State over the weekend.
GoldenNewsNg reports that the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Kano sector commander Zubairu Mato who confirmed this in a statement made available to newsmen disclosed that the passengers were burnt to death in the incident, which occurred along the Gaya-Wudil road on Sunday night.
He said the accident involves a Toyota Hummer bus and a Hyundai jeep, adding that road safety officials arrived at the scene at about 7.45 pm on Sunday and found out that the bus with registration number GML 102 TA belonging to Kano Line from Gombe State collided with the Jeep.
He said, “Thirteen passengers were burnt to death on the spot with 6 others injured in the accident. One of the female passengers reportedly died on Monday morning at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital intensive care unit.”
The FRSC commander attributed the accident to overspeeding and dangerous overtaking.
