The daughter in law of a former governor of Oyo State has debunked reports making the rounds that her father in law and serving senator from Oyo state has died of coronavirus in a private hospital in Lagos state Nigeria. News broke on Thursday that Ajimobi who was reportedly in a coma had died after a lung operation failed to address.
The ruling All Progressives Congress APC had named the former governor just a few days ago as the new acting national chairman of the party following the court ruling which upheld the election of comrade Adams Oshiomhole as the chairman of the APC.
The crisis which rocked the Edo state chapter of the party escalated after Governor Godwin Obaseki orchestrated the suspension of Adams Oshiomhole from the party.
Since Abiola Ajimobi was named as the new acting chairman of the party, he has not been seen in public. That confirmed fears that all was not well with him.
He was named among top Nigeria politicians that are battling coronavirus infection. Abiola Ajimobi is 70 years old and his age poses a high risk to recovery. News of his purported death generated uncertainties until his daughter in law and daughter of Kano state governor Fatima Ganduje Ajimobi made a post on her twitter handle claiming that he is still alive.
As an alleged loyalist of the national leader of the APC Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, he is believed to be one of the men that will work for Tinubu’s presidential ambition on the platform of the APC.
The death rumors were not widely received as many people prayed that it was a hoax and not true. What many people were circulating as the truth on social media were claims that he is in a coma as a result of his battle with coronavirus.
