Zindzi Mandela: Nelson Mandela’s Daughter Dies Age 59

The daughter of South African legend Nelson Mandela Zindzi Mandela has passed on at the age of 59. Until her death, she was said to be in charge of South African mission to Liberia. She is known for her activism in the area of land reforms in the country.

Her Father Nelson Mandela died in 2013 and he was over 90 years old. The country was getting ready to celebrate the anniversary of Nelson Mandela before the sad passing of his daughter who is said to be the 6th child and second from Winnie Mandela.

The President of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa announced her death through his twitter handle describing it as sad news. Like many other African countries, South Africa is also plagued by the dreaded coronavirus which has claimed many lives in the west.

However, the cause of her death is still unknown as there are speculations that she may have died as a result of the ravaging pandemic. Most deaths in the period of covid19 are often attributed to the virus.

Her family is also expected to issues a public statement to clear the air on her actual cause of death. There were no previous stories about her ailments so the news of her death came like a rude shock to many.

Zindzi Mandela’s death has thrown the country into mourning. Many other people that were influenced by her father have also expressed sadness over her demise.

The Late freedom fighter Nelson Mandela is honored as a hero of human rights struggles by many countries in Africa because of his uncompromising stance against apartheid, a system of oppression that existed in South Africa which subjected black people to dehumanizing treatments.

They only crime was being black. Following the success of the black resistance against oppression and apartheid, Mandela became South Africa’s first black president and he had only one term before leaving politics.
