The Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, said he believed  Obaseki will win Edo governorship election, though he is not a fan of the Edo governor.

Ayodele Fayose  also said Obaseki should honour his agreement with PDP by not returning to APC after winning the election – The former governor also attacked Chief Bode George, saying the PDP chieftain misread his earlier statement on Obaseki ‘s chances in the election

Former governor of Ekiti state, Ayo Fayose, has clarified his statement regarding the chances of Governor Godwin Obaseki winning the forthcoming Edo state governorship election. The former governor also accused Bode George, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), of deliberately reading different meaning to what he said for his own political gain.

Fayose had allegedly said on a TV programme that despite being a member of the PDP, it would be difficult for him to support Obaseki’s re-election bid.

However, Chief George in his response wondered why Fayose could make such comment when he had immensely benefited from the same party. “I am countering such remarks by telling the people of Edo State that we, members of the PDP, in the South-West are in support of Obaseki,” George was quoted to have said. Responding to George on Twitter, Fayose said the PDP chieftain read a different meaning to his statement. The former Ekiti state governor said though he is not a fan of Obaseki, he believed the Edo state governor will be re-elected. He, however, said Obaseki should not honour his alleged “agreement with the PDP by not returning to APC after assuming office for the second term for flimsy excuses.” “I just read the response of Chief Bode George to his understanding of what I said concerning the Edo State election. “Even though I won’t like to dignify him with a response, it is important that I set the records straight because it appears that he may have deliberately read different meanings to what political gains he wants to make out of it and I careless.

“My position is that, for obvious reasons, I am not a fan of both Gov Obaseki and Oshiomhole. “That notwithstanding, I believe that Obaseki will win, but he should honour his agreement with the PDP by not returning to APC after assuming office for the second term for flimsy excuses,” Fayose tweeted. The former governor also clarified that his position on the Edo election is personal, adding that he is not the mouthpiece of the Southwest PDP. “It is equally important for Chief Bode George to know that I am not the mouthpiece of South West PDP. I speak for myself and I take responsibility for whatever I say. “Above all, we still remember his negative statement concerning PDP on Ekiti, Osun and Rivers States elections. We still have the audio and it is a reference point that we will never forget. “Pa Bode George should take a rest now,” Fayose tweeted.

I just read the response of Chief Bode George to his understanding of what I said concerning the Edo State election.

Even though I won't like to dignify him with a response,  it is important that I set the records straight…
