Nigerian billionaire, Aliko Dangote, has thrown his weight behind former finance minister Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, as she vie for the position of Director General of The World Trade Organization in 2021.
In a series of tweets posted on his Twitter handle, Aliko Dangote gave his unwavering support to Mrs Okonjo-Iweala, one of a number of candidates in the running to replace Brazilian, Roberto Azvedo after his resignation on Sunday.
“In these challenging times, The World Trade Organization needs the renowned skills and tested experience of Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala to lead the organization through identified obstacles and strengthen it’s position as the prime facilitator of international trade.
“A vote for her by all is a step in the right direction. I fully endorse the candidature of Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala to lead WTO.”
