However, reacting to the development, Senator Sani who took to his Twitter page on Wednesday opined that while Nigerians are clamouring for the sack of the nation’s service chiefs, the President has refused to heed the call and gone ahead to sack the NDE boss, suggesting Nigerians should take it as a consolation.

He wrote: “You want the Service Chiefs sacked, now you are consoled with the sacking of the NDE chief.”

The security challenges in Nigeria, ranging from kidnapping to killings and many other criminal acts has made citizens of the country to demand the sack of the current service chiefs by President Buhari.

However, the Presidency in a recent statement on the development after Boko Haram slaughtered some rice farmers in Borno State, stated that the prerogative to appoint or sack Nigeria’s service chiefs solely rest on the shoulders of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The statement by Garba Shehu added that Buhari will not be pressured into changing the current service chiefs and will keep them for as lng as he is satisfied with their performance.

A former Senator representing Kano Central, Rufai Hanga has also recently claimed that President Buhari is yet to sack the Service Chiefs because he is afraid of a coup.

In an interview with The Sun, Hanga, a former member of the House of Representatives, wondered why the security chiefs are still keeping their jobs despite attaining the age of retirement.
