Welcome to the compilation of the latest news on Nnamdi Kanu News, the re-arrested Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on GoldenNewsNg for today, Wednesday, July 14th, 2021.

Here are the latest Nnamdi Kanu latest news headlines:

Wole Soyinka Lecture Series: ‘It’s Possible Nnamdi Kanu Was Drugged Before Repatriation’ — Femi Falana

Nigerian lawyer and human rights activist, Femi Falana SAN says it is “likely” Kenya law enforcement agents “drugged” Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), before he was repatriated to Nigeria.

Falana who stated this at the 13th Wole Soyinka Centre Media Lecture Series on Tuesday, an event to commemorate the scholar’s 87th birthday, said that the treatment meted out by the Muhammadu Buhari administration to pro-Biafra political activist, Nnamdi Kanu is similar to the foiled Nigerian kidnap plot in 1984 of Umaru Dikko, a former federal minister. Kanu, leader of IPOB, is also a British citizen. Facing treason charges as a result of the controversial activities of IPOB, he had fled Nigeria since 2017.

Nnamdi Kanu: Cameroon Reacts To Nigeria’s Rearrest Of IPOB Leader

Cameroon Special Envoy, Felix Mbayu has congratulated the Nigerian government on the rearrest and repatriation of the leader of the banned Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, through the collaboration of national security agencies and INTERPOL.

This is as President Muhammadu Buhari pledged that Nigeria will offer the best support possible to ensure that the Republic of Cameroon remains an indivisible country.

Nnamdi Kanu May Remain In Detention ( See Reasons)

Following the rearrest of the IPOB leader, the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, presided by Justice Binta Nyako had slated July 26 and 27 for continuous hearing on his case after the fugitive jumped bail in 2017.

But in a circular on Monday by the Chief Information Officer of the Federal High Court, Catherine Christopher, the Federal High Court noted that the Judges would embark on vacation on July 26.

The vacation is expected to last till September 17, 2021.

Nnamdi Kanu : We won’t allow Buhari’s govt take us back to 1984 – Falana

Falana who disclosed this at the 13th Wole Soyinka Centre Media Lecture Series to commemorate his 87th birthday, said that the treatment meted out to Nnamdi Kanu and Sunday Igboho is similar to what happened in 1984 when a Nigerian politician was kidnapped.

“We should not allow Buhari’s government take us back to 1984 when an attempt was made to kidnap Umaru Diko in London. He hd already been kidnapped and on the way to airport, a neighbor saw them and raised alarm after witnessing the inhuman treatment he was subjected to. he said .

Nnamdi Kanu’s Family Seeks Clarification On IPOB Leader’s Extradition

The family of the leader of the outlawed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, on Tuesday insisted on explanations on how their blood was allegedly “abducted and bundled” back to Nigeria.

This demand manifested as traditional rulers under the aegis of Monarchs of Biafran Land came to Umuahia, Abia State on solidarity visit and advised the Federal Government to employ dialogue in Kanu’s matter.

Nnamdi Kanu: FG Welcomes Ohanaeze To Monitor Trial Of IPOB’s Leader

Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN has welcomed the formation of a legal team by Ohanaeze Ndigbo to monitor the proceedings at the trial of the self-acclaimed IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, a move which is in line with the doctrine of the right of fair hearing rooted in Section 36 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“Inherent in the position of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo on the matter was the demonstration of their recognition of belonging to Nigeria and succumbing to the rule of law while maintaining their stance that they were not averse to the trial of Nnamdi Kanu,” a communique by the AGF’s spokesman,  Dr. Umar Jibrilu Gwandu reads in part.
