Obaseki Speaks On Returning To APC After Meeting Buhari

Obaseki Meets Buhari In Aso Villa After Refusing To Enforce Anti-open Grazing

GoldenNewsNg gathered that Governor Godwin Obaseki on Wednesday met with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

According to reports, this was made known by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina who shared photos from the meeting on social media.

“President Buhari receives Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State in State House on 13th Oct 2021,” Adesina captioned photos.

No reason was given for the meeting by Adesina as at the time of filing in this report.

Recall that Governor Obaseki had recently stated that Edo State will not implement the anti-open grazing law yet.

Obaseki said he is yet to enforce the law because the root causes of farmer-herders crises is yet to be identified.

“We are one of the few states that are yet to sign the anti-open grazing law, and the reason is simple; it doesn’t make sense to put out a law you cannot enforce. The best way of enforcing a law is to bring everybody together to be part of that law,” he said.

“We have a crisis in our country, it is deeply rooted; there are different causes. Let us go to the root of the causes and resolve it from there. People have said that we have lived a hundred years together in harmony before now. Why are we having these problems today?”
