The All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship candidate in Niger State Hon. Umar Mohammed Bago has berated critics who accused him of thuggery saying, he is not a thug but will work with Security Operatives to ensure that lasting peace returns to Niger state.
Earlier, he disclosed that the youth restiveness in Minna the state capital requires a proactive measure before it gets out of hand.
Hon. Bago who is also a member representing Chanchaga Federal Constituency stated this at the just concluded strategic security meeting held at the Justice Idris Legbo Kutigi Conference Center in Minna, adding that, security of lives and properties is a fundamental issue that should not be toyed with.
According to him “I am not a thug, I have never been a thug and will never be a thug therefore, I will not be a part of all these disturbance of law abiding citizens; I will not tolerate thuggery in my Constituency and the state at large.
“I am saying it loud and clear that anyone caught disrupting the peace of our state and the people will be decisively dealt with according to the provisions of the law and I am prepared to support the security agencies to ensure that the menace of hooliganism is permanently curbed on our streets.
“I have said it, I will personally join the Police to patrol our streets to ensure the Success of nipping in the bud this madness”
He also said that nobody can link him to thuggery and youth restiveness because he has been providing employment and skill aquisition for majority of them.
