Before the general election next month, a former member of the House of Representatives who represented the Birnin Gwari/Giwa Federal Constituency, Hon. Hassan Adamu Shekarau has quit the All Progressives Congress (APC) that is in charge.
Goldennewsng reports that the former lawmaker from Kaduna State cited personal reasons for leaving the party in a letter dated January 3, 2023 and made available to DAILY POST in Abuja on Wednesday.
It was unclear whether he would join the People’s Democratic Party, though he thanked APC members in Kaduna State who had supported him in the past.
A portion of the letter read: I am writing to inform you of my decision to resign from the All Progressives Congress on January 3, 2023.
Malam Nasir El-Rufai, the governor of Kaduna State, is currently in the midst of his second term, which will come to an end on May 29, 2023. Uba Sani, his closest ally and the senator who represents the Kaduna Central Senatorial district, is the candidate for governor for the APC.
