Afe Babalola, a prominent lawyer, says he is convinced that the February presidential election may not reflect the will of the people but rather the preferences of those with a lot of money.
Goldennewsng reports that Babalola stated at a press conference on Thursday that the upcoming poll would be won by the candidate with the most money, not by the best candidate.
The legal luminary expressed concern that the general elections in 2023 might not go in the favor of ordinary Nigerians.
He stated, “It is not the person who has all it takes – age, health, education, and patriotism – that will win the election; I repeat, it is not the person who can make a difference.” I can guarantee that the individual who has made money in this country will be the winner of this election.
“The one who has the most money will win.”
He claims that former president Olusegun Obasanjo’s endorsement of Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi may not have the same impact as what other candidates would do with their money.
