The LP’s plan for Nigerian workers has been made public.
Goldennewsng reports that the party spoke on Thursday and talked about the benefits that Nigerians will get if its candidate for president, Peter Obi, wins the general election in 2023.
If it wins power, the party said it would implement a minimum wage of between N80,000 and N100,000.
In an interview with Channels TV, the party’s Deputy National Chairman, Ayo Olorufemi, criticized the current N30,000 minimum wage.
“It depends on the nature of the job that would be given out,” Olorunfemi stated. For instance, a cursory examination of the available manual labor reveals that a laborer earns no less than N2,500 to N3,000 per day, which is still unacceptable in terms of the reward system.
“You will be talking about N500 per hour if you divide N3,000 by six hours.
“So, if you compare that to what we currently have, you will undoubtedly be talking about something between N500 and N1,000 per hour, depending on the nature of the work, and at the end of the day, someone can effectively say that he can make up to N4,000 in a day.
“And we are talking about N80,000 or N100,000 in a month when you multiply N4,000 in a day by 20 or 25.”
