Matthew Akawu, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Pengana State Constituency in the 2023 election, has passed away.
Goldennewsng reports that a family source says that on Wednesday, Akawu went to a new year’s event in the constituency. He was supposed to carry the party’s flag in the 2023 State Assembly election.
When he got home, he said he wasn’t feeling well, and his situation got worse, so he was taken to the hospital.
The source confirmed, “Unfortunately, he died in the early hours of Friday.”
In addition, John Akans, the PDP’s State Publicity Secretary, confirmed the candidate’s demise.
I can only say, “Yes, we are aware of the death of our candidate for the Pengana State Assembly constituency, but the party will issue a statement on that.”
