… as PDP zones Governorship to Niger South
Leader of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in Niger State Senator Zaynab Kure has on Wednesday vowed that she will do all she can to ensure the PDP fully regain its position.
Senator Kure who led the PDP to storm Niger south in what appears to be a show of brinkmanship to Bida assured party faithfuls that the PDP is fully prepared.
Giving this assurance at the Niger south expanded stakeholders’ meeting in Bida, she said “we will all join hands together and achieve victory and ensure PDP wins all elections henceforth.”
According to her “with the spate of insecurity, poor infrastructure across the state and the general spate of despair, we have no other option than to rescue our state and regain our place.
“The PDP will regain its position as the ruling party in the state to restore the past glory and fix the challenges we are faced with”.
In his remarks, Chairman of the party in the State, Barrister Tanko Beji vowed that its next Gubernatorial candidate will emerge from the Niger South Senatorial district to ensure the zoning formula is intact.
It should be noted that Zone A (Niger South) had produced Engr. Abdulkadir Kure a PDP Governor between 1999 to 2007, also, Zone B (Niger East) between 2007 and 2015 produced another PDP Governor, Dr Muazu Babangida Aliyu and currently, Zone C (Niger North) although not of PDP but the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) produced Abubakar Sani Bello.
Speaking separately, Dr. Shem Zagbayi Nuhu and Hon. Tanko Achituwo lamented the backwardness and poverty level the state has been plunged into, saying “we will ensure victory for the party at all levels from the local level to the Presidency”.
The meeting had party faithfuls drawn from the 8 LGAs in the Zone which include Lapai, Agaie, Katcha, Bida, Gbako, Lavun, Mokwa and Edati LGAs.
Others at the meeting are former Ministers A.H Gimba and Abubakar A. Tanko, former Speakers Ndako Kpaki, Ma’ali and Gamunu, former PDP National Financial Secretary, Abdullahi Maibasira.
