… Meets Atiku Campaign Coordinator
… to meet Sen. Zainab Kure, Prof. Jerry Gana, PDP Chairman, others soon
A Chieftain and pioneer member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Niger state, Comrade Jonathan Vatsa has disclosed that he is about to leave the ruling party for the opposition People’s Democratic Party PDP.
Vatsa who was the former Publicity Secretary of the APC in the state told selected Journalists after a closed door meeting with the Niger state Coordinator of the Alhaji Atiku Abubakar Presidential campaign in the 2023 general election, Dr. Zagbayi Shem Nuhu in Minna, the state capital that he is about 100 percent sure he is leaving the ruling party.
The meeting which took place at the private residence of the former Deputy Governor of the state lasted for about two hours.
The about two hours closed door meeting with Atiku Campaign Coordinator has further buttressed the speculations that the Coordinator, Public Affairs to Governor Abubakar Sani Bello has made up his mind to dump the ruling party for the opposition party in a matter of days.
Findings have it that the meeting between the duo is not unconnected with the current political alignment ahead of 2023, and a possible switch of loyalty from the ruling APC to the main opposition party.
Speaking to Journalists, the former Niger state Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism said “I am 95 percent out of the APC but I am still consulting members of the opposition party. I will be meeting with Professor Jerry Gana, the State Party Chairman of the PDP and other major stakeholders of the PDP as from tomorrow (Wednesday).”
It should be noted that the meeting is coming barely 48 hours after a similar closed door meeting between Vatsa and the former Governor of the state, Dr. Muazu Babangida Aliyu at his (Aliyu’s) residence.
It should be recalled that in 2006, Vatsa was the Coordinator of Atiku Abubakar Support Group, the Turaki Vanguard, Niger state chapter under the platform of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN).
He later became the Publicity Secretary of the APC in 2014 after the merger of ACN with other political parties.
