The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) is pleased to announce the commencement of the 2024/2025 Postgraduate Foreign Scholarship Programme.
This initiative aims to provide Masters and PhD Scholarships for Nigerian students hailing from the Niger Delta region, enabling them to pursue advanced studies abroad.
Through this program, the NDDC seeks to equip Niger Deltans with the necessary training and skills to actively participate in the Federal Government’s Local Content program and compete globally across various professional domains.
Benefits of NDDC Postgraduate Scholarship
- Fully Funded Scholarship: Successful applicants will receive comprehensive financial support, covering expenses such as tuition fees, travel, visa, stipends, and accommodation while studying at any accredited foreign university.
Requirements for NDDC Postgraduate Scholarship
To qualify for the NDDC Postgraduate Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Academic Qualifications: A first degree with a minimum of 2nd Class Lower Division for Master’s Degree candidates, and a good Master’s Degree for PhD candidates, obtained from a recognized University.
- Admission: Applicants must have secured admission for a Postgraduate Programme in any of the listed disciplines at a foreign University.
- Eligibility: Candidates already enrolled in overseas universities are not eligible to apply for the scholarship.
- Guarantor’s Consent: A written consent of good conduct from a guarantor, who must be a member of the National Assembly/State House of Assembly, Chairman of the Local Government Area (LGA), First Class Traditional Ruler, or High Court Judge from the applicant’s community/clan.
- Background Check: Applicants with evidence of cult membership or criminal records will not be considered.
- NYSC Completion: Completion of the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program is mandatory.
- Indigene Status: Applicants must be indigenes of one of the Niger Delta states, including Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo, and Rivers States.

- Local Government Identification Letter
- Postgraduate admission letter from a recognized Overseas University
- NYSC Discharge/Exemption Certificate
- Relevant degrees from recognized universities

- Complete the online application form available on the Commission’s website (www.nddc.gov.ng) and upload all required documents.
- Upon successful submission, an automatic registration number will be assigned to the applicant.
- Print the hard copy of the online-generated acknowledgment for future reference.
- Shortlisted applicants will be announced on the NDDC website (www.nddc.gov.ng).
