“Conspiracy of silence on Gender based violence must be discarded”- Wife of Niger state Gov

Wife of the Governor of Niger state, Dr Amina Abubakar Bello has disclosed that for all forms of gender based violence to be put to an end, the conspiracy of silence surrounding the dastardly Must be discarded.
She said on Thursday in her message to flag off activities to commemorate this year’s 16 Day of Activisms for the elimination of violence against women in Minna that the government will collaborate with stakeholders as part of efforts to intensify the call to end all forms of Gender based violence in the State.
The theme for this year’s 16 days of activism is “Orange the world: End violence against women now”.
Dr. Amina who is also the chairperson of the state Gender based violence Management Committee, lamented the disturbing trend of violence against women, noting that “for the scourge to be eliminated, the conspiracy of silence surrounding the dastardly act must be discarded by parents, traditional and religious leaders and others.
“Our leaders both traditional, religious and others need to redouble their efforts in sensitising their subjects and adherents against all forms of violence against women.
Furthermore, she reiterated the call for the of enactment of stiffer penalties for perpetrators of GBV.
The Chairperson also disclosed that there would be advocacy visits to the State House of Assembly, Attorney General and the Emir of Minna and a free testing/counseling services at the Emir’s palace, Mobil roundabout and SACA office.
