Recommended : Differences Between JAMB and school Post UTME cut off marks

You should be aware of and follow the following GoldenNwsNg steps to gain an admission in Nigeria:

1. O’level Result

2. Jamb Cut Off Mark

3. Uploading Of O’level Result

4. Post UTME/SCREENING Cut Off Mark

5. Course Subject Combination

6. Age

7. Choice Of Institution

1. O’level Result

The first item to examine in the admission procedure is the Five (5) Relevant O’level subject, which are the relevant subjects of a department, whether it is Commercial, Art, or Science.
Every student must have a C or B in the applicable O’level subjects; candidates cannot have a D, E, or Fail.

For Instance;
A commercial student must have at least a lower credit in
•Maths (All department)
•English(All department)
•Financial Account
•Economics
•Commerce (Some course +Government)

2. JAMB Cut Off Mark

What is the purpose of writing JAMB?
TO RELIABLY MEASURE CANDIDATES’ ABILITIES AND DETERMINE THEIR SUITABILITY FOR HIGHER EDUCATION.

what is Jamb cut-off mark ?

The Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) JAMB Cut-Off Mark is a minimum score or points a candidate who wants to apply for admission into Higher institutions in Nigeria such as varsities, Polytechnics, monotechnic and college of education must have in JAMB (UTME) before he or she will qualifyfor admission into the university.

Important Note: All candidates seeking admission to a higher education institution should ensure that they meet the institution’s cut-off mark, which varies by school and department.

Recommended : List of universities that accept 120 to 180 JAMB score

3. Uploading Of O’level Results To JAMB CAPS

This result uploading to JAMB CAPS was strictly enforced in 2020, and JAMB is still emphasizing it, resulting in many candidates missing out on admission.
Respective applicants should visit a JAMB office or one of its certified facilities to upload their O’level results to JAMB CAPS. You can view the entries on the AMB portal by checking your CAPS, then O’level results.

4. POST UTME Cut Off Mark

This is more like an exam you write before gaining admission into any institution, but some institutions are now using the screening method by using your O’level results and JAMB score to rate.

To gain admission into schools that uses Post UTME as their screening criteria , You must make sure you meet the departmental cut-off mark.

5. Course Subject Combination

This is also very crucial; I put course subject since some candidates make the error of using: e.g the subjects of Accounting for Economics; while this may work in some cases, many institutions take this very serious. You can easily get it right by utilizing the JAMB TOOL:

6. Age

In some Universities in Nigeria, Age is a major criteria for gaining admission into their university.  This may seem insignificant, but when it comes to some institutions, like as UNILAG, your age is crucial; if you are under the age of 16, you may be denied entry.

7. Choice Of Institution

Making a choice of institution is a very crucial especially when your choice of institution has a very high cut off mark requirement. if your choice requires a cut off mark of 200 , you must work hard to get t least 210 and prepare to also pass their screening(post UTME) which is also an important pass to gaining admission. Otherwise you my fall back to your second choice.

Almost All universities in Nigeria except some private universities only Accept first Choice of Institution
