Recognizing the pivotal role agriculture plays in many economies, constituting 25% or more of GDP in various developing nations, this program aims to harness the potential of the youth in this sector. Given the aging demographic of food producers, particularly with an average age exceeding 60, the government recognizes the need to implement inclusive strategies. These strategies aim to involve the youth in agricultural food production, addressing key challenges such as lack of financing, access to land, markets, and training.

In alignment with this vision, the Lagos State government, under the leadership of Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has initiated several programs, including the Lagos Agripreneurship Programme (L.A.P.), which was established in 2020. This program serves as a crucial social intervention effort, focusing on training the youth in modern agricultural techniques within four key value chains: poultry, aquaculture, vegetable farming, and piggery. The objective is to train 15,000 young individuals over the next five years.

As part of the Lagos State Agripreneurship Training, the eligibility criteria specify that the program is open to participants from Nigeria. Lagos State Agripreneurship Training Programme Details:

The Lagos State Agripreneurship Training Programme is inviting qualified candidates to apply for a one-month training opportunity in Poultry, Aquaculture, Vegetable Value Chains, E-Agric, and Agribusiness at the Lagos State Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) located in Araga, Epe.

Upon successful completion of the training, participants will proceed to a three-month internship and mentorship phase within their chosen value chains under the Lagos Agripreneurship Programme (L.A.P.).

Eligibility Requirements for Lagos State Agripreneurship Training Programme:

Prospective candidates must meet the following criteria:

– Be unemployed women and youth with a keen interest in agriculture.
– Possess a minimum of a Senior Secondary School Certificate.
– Maintain a satisfactory physical and health condition.
– Age requirement: Between 18-35 years for males and 18-40 years for females.
