President Bola Tinubu has suspended all Social Investment Programmes administered by the National Social Investment Programme Agency.
The announcement was made in a statement on Friday by Segun Imohiosen, the Director of Information at the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
The decision comes amid an ongoing investigation into alleged malfeasance in the management of the agency and its programs. The suspension, lasting six weeks initially, affects all four programs administered by NSIPA, including the N-Power Programme, Conditional Cash Transfer Programme, Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme, and Home Grown School Feeding Programme.
Tinubu expressed concerns about operational lapses and improprieties in payments to the program beneficiaries. In response, a ministerial panel has been constituted to conduct a thorough review of the agency’s operations and recommend necessary reforms.
During the suspension period, all NSIPA-related activities, such as distributions, events, payments, collaborations, and registrations, are frozen.
