President Bola Tinubu is set to leave Abuja for Paris, France, for a private visit, according to a statement signed by Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity. The statement, titled ‘President Tinubu Travels to France,’ did not specify the reasons for the visit.

However, Ngelale mentioned that Tinubu is expected to return to the country in the first week of February 2024. Notably, this marks Tinubu’s third visit to France since assuming office eight months ago.

On June 20, 2023, just three weeks into his presidency, Tinubu initiated his international engagements by revisiting the city he last toured as President-elect—Paris, the French capital.

During his four-day sojourn, the Nigerian leader actively participated in the Paris Summit for the New Global Financial Pact. The primary objective was to “review and sign a New Global Financial Pact that places vulnerable countries on the priority list for support and investment, following the devastating impact of climate change, the energy crisis, and the after-effects of the COVID-19 pandemic,” as stated in a release by then-Special Adviser, Special Duties, Communication, and Strategy, Dele Alake.

In September 2023, President Tinubu extended his diplomatic presence by spending nine days alongside world leaders at the 78th United Nations General Assembly in New York, USA, commencing on September 19. This marked his inaugural UNGA attendance as President.

Subsequently, he headed to Paris, France, for a five-day stay, returning to Abuja on September 29, just ahead of Nigeria’s 63rd Independence Day anniversary on October 1.
