Four ritualists with human head in Police net

Four suspected ritualists have been arrested by the Niger State Police Command after they severed the head of a dead person in Mashegu local government area of Niger state.
It was gathered that the suspects exhumed and severed the human head from Kanti village grave yard through Ibbi village in Mashegu Local Government Area of Niger state on Saturday 3rd of October, 2020 at about 8am.
The four suspects, namely one Alhaji Suleiman Abubakar aged 50years, Babuga Mamman aged 42years, Abdullahi Dogo aged 30years and Abubakar Abdullahi 31years, all of Sabon Pegi Mashegu LGA.
During interrogation, the suspects confessed that they were contracted to get the human head for a sum of two million naira (N2,000,000) by one Nasiru of Koko town in Kebbi State and one Muhammadu of Sabon Pegi in Mashegu LGA of Niger state currently at large.
The suspects told our Correspondent that the buyers want to use the head for ritual purposes, claiming they have been doing it for years.
One of the suspects, Dogo told our Correspondent that he was contracted to do the job at the sum of N2million before he involved others.
“My worry is that we have not been paid for this assignment, Nasiru and Muhammadu were nowhere to be found, the other suspects are in Police custody with me.”
Expressing regrets, he said “I am sorry for the other suspects I contracted to join me to go to grave yard to exhumed dead bodies. It was the same day we severed the head that we were apprehended.”
Confirming the incident the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Wasiu Abiodun said the suspects were apprehended around 5:30pm same day.
The Police Spokesman said the case is under investigation and effort to arrest the fleeing suspects is ongoing.
He added that, the arrested suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded.
