Electricity Tariff: How To Check If You’re On Band A, B, C, D or E In Nigeria

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) recently sanctioned a notable surge in electricity tariffs for customers categorized under different bands.

It’s imperative for consumers to ascertain their band classification to understand the corresponding tariff rates.

Customers in Band A will now be charged N225 per kilowatt-hour (KW/h), a sharp rise from the previous rate of N66.

Band Classification

  1. Band A: Customers receiving 20-24 hours of electricity supply daily.
  2. Band B: Subscribers enjoying 16-20 hours of power supply daily.
  3. Band C: Receivers of 12-16 hours of electricity on a daily basis.
  4. Band D: Beneficiaries of 8-12 hours of power supply each day.
  5. Band E: Consumers receiving 4-8 hours of electricity supply daily.

Determining Your Feeder Band

To discern your feeder band, follow these steps:

  1. Identify Your Distribution Company (DisCo): Understand the DisCo serving your area to determine your feeder band accurately.
    • DisCos Across Nigeria:
      • Benin (BEDC): Delta, Edo, Ekiti, Ondo.
      • Kaduna (KDEDC): Kaduna, Kebbi, Sokoto, Zamfara.
      • Kano (KEDC): Kano, Katsina, Jigawa.
      • Yola (YEDC): Adamawa, Borno, Taraba, Yobe.
      • Jos (JEDC): Bauchi, Benue, Gombe, Plateau.
      • Abuja (AEDC): FCT, Kogi, Nasarawa, Niger.
      • Ibadan (IBEDC): Kwara, Ogun, Osun, Oyo.
      • Ikeja (IEDC): Lagos.
      • Eko (EKEDC): Lagos.
      • Port Harcourt (PEDC): Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Rivers.
      • Enugu (EEDC): Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo.

Steps to Check Your Feeder Band

For Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IEDC) Customers:

  1. Visit www.ikejaelectric.com
  2. Click on customer service
  3. Click on Customer feeder information
  4. Click on customer feeder verification
  5. Enter your account or meter number to verify your feeder details.

For Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) Customers:

  1. Visit www.ibedc.com
  2. Go to the Customer Service icon
  3. Click on Customer Feeder Information
  4. For postpaid customers, enter your account number. For prepaid customers, enter your meter number.
  5. Click Get Info to verify your feeder details
