African lecturers must embrace emerging technology to boost entrepreneurship- Ghanaian Varsity VC

As part of plans to instil entrepreneurship skills in students for economic development, the Vice Chancellor, University of Education Winneba, Ghana Professor Stephen Jobson Mitchual has advocated for a change of teaching method by African lecturers through leveraging on emerging technology and innovative pedagogy.
The University Don stated this in his keynote address on Emerging Technology and Innovative Pedagogy for Entrepreneurship and Economic Development at the 10th International Conference of School of Science and Technology Education held at the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Niger state.
According to Prof Mitchual, “African graduates are intelligent; if they travel abroad, they perform wonders and are used for research work, what is required is a little push to thrive.

“I charge Africans to continue to take advantage of technology to improve local content and we have to do it by ourselves otherwise nobody will do it for us.”
In his remarks, Vice Chancellor Federal University of Technology Minna Prof Faruk Adamu Kuta explained that the focus on emerging technology is timely as cutting edge innovations like artificial intelligence, block chain, robotics, the Internet and other digital developments are not only transforming industries, enhancing businesss and creating new markets but also reshaping various aspects of our daily lives.

Represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration Prof. Uno E. Uno, the Vice Chancellor said “conferences like this can help policymakers, educators and entrepreneurs exchange ideas on how to harness latest technological advancement for long term economic gains.”
He however ever said as part of new approach to cover the gap there is the need to go virtual, online to cover some students that they cannot accommodate to develop their talents to benefit their lives.
Also speaking NECO Registrar and Chief Executive Prof Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi thanked the management of Federal University of Technology Minna for sustaining the International Conference which he said had improved significantly for years.

Highlight of the event was the commissioning of the Prof Faruk Adamu Kuta Multi Media Studio at the Bosso campus of FUT.
