2025 President Tinubu Renewed Hope: Top 10 Policies to Watch Out For

As Nigeria moves into 2025, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda is shaping the country’s future. With a focus on economic growth, youth empowerment, and infrastructure development, the administration has introduced a series of policies aimed at tackling key challenges and unlocking Nigeria’s potential. Here, we take a closer look at the top 10 policies to keep an eye on in 2025 and how they might impact the nation.

1. The National Youth CONFAB

The National Youth CONFAB is set to begin in early 2025, marking a major step toward involving young people in governance. This initiative aims to bring Nigeria’s youth and its leaders closer, encouraging collaboration and empowering the next generation. The Ministry of Youth will soon share details on how representatives from across the country will be selected, ensuring a wide range of voices are included.

2. National Credit Guarantee Company

To boost the economy, the Renewed Hope administration plans to launch the National Credit Guarantee Company by mid-2025. This initiative will make it easier for individuals and key sectors to access credit, encouraging entrepreneurship and economic growth. By offering financial security, the company aims to attract investments in agriculture, manufacturing, and small businesses.

3. Tax Reform Bills Implementation

Tax reforms are a central part of the administration’s economic plans. The Tax Reform Bills, currently being discussed in the National Assembly, are expected to be passed and put into action in 2025. These reforms aim to improve Nigeria’s tax collection system, reduce poverty, control inflation, and make it easier to do business.

By addressing revenue leaks and simplifying tax processes, these changes could help stabilize the economy.

4. Consumer Credit Scheme Phase 2

The Consumer Credit Scheme, one of the administration’s flagship programs, will expand in 2025. After benefiting thousands of civil servants, the scheme will now be available to the general public. This move aims to make it easier for people to access goods, support industrial growth, and improve living standards.

By reducing financial barriers, the scheme could help curb corruption and promote economic inclusion.

5. Infrastructure Commissioning

2025 will see the completion of several major infrastructure projects, including:

  • Lagos-Calabar Highway (Phase One)
  • 3 Bus Terminal Stations in FCT
  • Renewed Hope Cities
  • Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline Project
  • Kaduna Refinery
  • 52MW Maiduguri Emergency Power Project (MEPP)

These projects are expected to improve transportation, energy supply, and urban development, laying the groundwork for long-term economic growth.

6. Special Agro Processing Zones/Green Imperative

The federal government will launch Special Agro Processing Zones in six states in partnership with the African Development Bank. These zones aim to boost food production and create large farming hubs. Additionally, the Green Imperative initiative will provide farmers with access to modern equipment and training, ensuring sustainable farming practices at the local level.

7. Full Implementation of Local Government Autonomy

The Supreme Court’s decision on local government autonomy will be fully enforced in 2025. This policy will allow the federal government to send funds directly to local governments, bypassing state interference. By strengthening local governance, the initiative aims to improve service delivery and development in communities.

8. National Livestock Program

The newly created Ministry of Livestock will introduce a National Livestock Program in 2025. This initiative seeks to tap into the potential of Nigeria’s livestock sector, particularly in the North. By addressing conflicts between farmers and herders and promoting sustainable practices, the program aims to boost the economy and reduce poverty.

9. Introduction of the New National Identification Card

The AFRIGO Card, proposed by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), will be launched in 2025. This card will serve as a national ID, a payment tool, and a way to access government services. By improving financial inclusion and simplifying identification processes, the AFRIGO Card could transform Nigeria’s digital economy.

10. Renewed Hope Creative Villages

To support Nigeria’s creative industry, the administration will establish Renewed Hope Creative Villages in every state. These hubs will preserve historic sites, promote arts and culture, and create thousands of jobs. By working with state governments, the initiative aims to turn the creative sector into a major contributor to the economy.

Conclusion

The Renewed Hope agenda for 2025 reflects President Tinubu’s vision for a stronger and more inclusive Nigeria. From youth empowerment and tax reforms to infrastructure development and agricultural innovation, these policies aim to address pressing issues and create new opportunities.

As Nigerians, staying informed and actively participating in these initiatives will be crucial to their success. Let’s look ahead with optimism and work together to build a brighter future for the country.
