The president, Muhammadu Buhari hints at staying president for the next 10years in today’s nationwide address
The President addressed the nation at exactly 7pm today following nationwide Unrest and death of scores of citizens at the Lekki toll gate.
In his succinct 12 minute speech, a line from his address raised eyebrows and caused mixed emotions to watching Nigerians.
“Government has put in place measures and initiatives principally targeted at youths, women and the most vulnerable groups in our society. These included our broad plan to lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty in the next 10 years;”
The constitution only allows a president to run 2 terms and President Muhammadu Buhari has served a year off his second term.
This speech raises questions on if he plans to continue after 2023.
Son of the legendary Fela Kuti, Seun Kuti posted on Instagram his fear and concern on the statement by Buhari where he pleaded to the President to please leave office 2023.
