Latest JAMB News Today 1st May 2025

Welcome to GoldenNewsNg, your number one destination for the latest JAMB News today 2025, UTME updates, result releases, admission tips, and exam alerts.

Are you a candidate who just wrote the 2025 UTME or you’re yet to sit for yours? Do you want real-time information about your JAMB results, reprint updates, and breaking exam news? You’re in the right place.

As the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) continues across Nigeria, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued several key updates. With more than two million registered candidates participating nationwide, the UTME remains a crucial step in Nigeria’s higher education admissions process.

This article provides a comprehensive overview of the latest developments as of 1st May 2025.

Ongoing UTME 2025: Key Timelines

The 2025 UTME commenced on Thursday, April 24, and is scheduled to conclude on Monday, May 5, 2025. According to JAMB officials, over 2,030,000 candidates are taking the examination in more than 784 accredited Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres nationwide.

While the exercise has largely proceeded smoothly, some technical and administrative concerns have been raised, prompting real-time interventions from JAMB monitoring teams.

JAMB 2025 UTME Results: Not Yet Released

As of 1st May 2025, the results of the ongoing UTME have not been released. JAMB has reiterated that results will only be published after the full examination period has ended and all CBT centres have submitted their reports.

According to the board’s spokesperson, the delay is due to the need for post-examination audits, biometric verification, and security screening to ensure the integrity of the results.

“We are committed to maintaining the integrity of the UTME and ensuring that all results are credible and free from manipulation,” JAMB stated.

Over 41,000 Underage Candidates Registered

This year, a total of 41,027 candidates under the age of 16 registered for the UTME. While the board has not barred such candidates, the figure has sparked renewed conversations about minimum age requirements for tertiary education.

JAMB officials have indicated that discussions are ongoing to review existing admission policies, and that possible adjustments may be announced in the near future.

Examination Malpractice: 40 Impersonators Arrested

The board has confirmed the arrest of 40 impersonators at various CBT centres across the country. These individuals attempted to sit for the examination on behalf of registered candidates, using fake identities or biometric fraud.

With the aid of CCTV surveillance, biometric verification, and real-time monitoring, the board has increased its efforts to curb examination malpractice.

“Those found guilty will be prosecuted in accordance with the law. This is part of our zero-tolerance policy on cheating and impersonation,” JAMB warned.

Concerns Over Early Morning Exam Scheduling

Several parents and candidates have raised concerns over UTME sessions scheduled as early as 6:30 a.m., particularly in areas with security challenges or poor transportation infrastructure.

While JAMB has not officially responded to these concerns, sources within the board acknowledge that adjustments to scheduling may be considered for future exercises to improve safety and convenience for candidates.

Technical Issues Reported at Some CBT Centres

Despite the general success of the UTME rollout, some candidates have reported issues such as delayed login times, poor server connectivity, and hardware malfunctions.

JAMB has assured the public that any CBT centre found to be negligent or non-compliant will be penalized, and affected candidates may be rescheduled for a makeup test if deemed necessary.

Candidates facing such issues are advised to report them via the official JAMB support portal at www.jamb.gov.ng.
