CREDICORP Launches ₦6 Billion YouthCred Program for NYSC Corps Members – Access Up to ₦150,000 Credit with Low Interest in 2025

The Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP) has introduced the YouthCred initiative, a ₦6 billion financial empowerment program aimed at National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members. This program offers affordable consumer credit ranging from ₦100,000 to ₦150,000, repayable in small monthly installments at near single-digit interest rates. The goal is to support young Nigerians during their service year and instill responsible credit habits early in their careers

What Is YouthCred?

YouthCred is a federal government initiative designed to provide NYSC corps members with access to consumer credit and financial education. Spearheaded by CREDICORP CEO Uzoma Nwagba, the program aims to build a credit-aware generation by teaching young Nigerians how to manage credit responsibly while giving them access to financing at a critical stage in their lives

Key Features of YouthCred

  • Loan Amounts: Up to ₦150,000 in upfront credit.

  • Repayment Terms: Flexible monthly installments throughout the service year.

  • Interest Rates: Near single-digit, making it one of the most affordable financing options in Nigeria today.

  • Eligibility: NYSC corps members with a monthly allowance of ₦70,000.

  • Purpose: To cover real-life needs such as housing, transportation, and work-related expenses.

Financial Literacy Training

Before accessing the credit, corps members are required to complete a digital financial literacy course. This training covers budgeting, understanding credit scores, and smart financial habits. Only after passing the course can a corps member access their credit, ensuring they are equipped with the knowledge to manage their finances responsibly .

Applications

YouthCred is designed to support the practical needs of corps members:

  • Rural Postings: Funds can be used to purchase essentials like fans, beds, or transportation means such as bikes.

  • Urban Postings: Credit can assist in acquiring professional attire, laptops, or other work-related tools.

This initiative ensures that corps members can settle into their service locations comfortably and focus on their assignments without financial strain.

How to Apply

Interested NYSC members can apply for the YouthCred program through the official website: https://youthcred.com. Ensure you complete the required financial literacy training to qualify for the credit facility.

Conclusion

YouthCred represents a significant step towards financial empowerment for young Nigerians. By combining access to affordable credit with essential financial education, the program aims to foster a generation that is both financially literate and responsible. Whether you’re posted in a rural area or an urban center, YouthCred provides the tools and support needed to navigate your service year successfully.
