A Prestigious International Career Opportunity for Nigerian Professionals

 

GoldenNewsNg reports that the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced a high-level international career opening for qualified Nigerian citizens. In a statement released on Tuesday, 22nd July 2025, the Ministry encouraged eligible Nigerians to apply for the role of Expert in Political and Humanitarian Affairs at the Permanent Mission of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Kabul, Afghanistan.

According to the Ministry’s spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, this position is a unique opportunity for Nigerian professionals to contribute meaningfully to international diplomacy, humanitarian assistance, and political coordination in one of the world’s most complex geopolitical regions.

What the Role Entails

This role is based at the OIC Permanent Mission in Kabul and reports directly to the Director-General of the Mission. The selected candidate will be expected to:

  • Engage in humanitarian coordination and policy development;

  • Support international development efforts and diplomatic engagements in the region;

  • Contribute to the implementation of OIC’s humanitarian and political agenda in Afghanistan;

  • Collaborate with multilateral partners to strengthen humanitarian delivery and crisis response mechanisms.

Who Can Apply:  Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria as clearly outlined by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs:

Nationality & Religion

  • Must be a Muslim national of one of the OIC Member States, including Nigeria.

Age Limit

  • Candidates must be under 45 years old at the time of application.

 Health Status

  • Applicants must be physically and medically fit, with no health condition that may affect their performance in a demanding international posting.

 Educational Qualifications

  • A Master’s degree or equivalent in:

    • Political Science

    • Humanitarian Studies

    • International Relations

    • Social Sciences

    • Or a closely related field

  • A Ph.D. is a strong advantage and may improve chances of selection.

Work Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive professional experience in:

    • Humanitarian affairs

    • Crisis/emergency relief coordination

    • Emergency preparedness

    • Socioeconomic development programs

  • Prior field experience in humanitarian emergencies will be considered a valuable asset.

 Language Proficiency

  • Fluency in at least one of the three official OIC languages (Arabic, English, or French).

  • Ability to read, write, and speak at a professional level.

  • Mastery of at least one additional OIC language is required.

  • Knowledge of a local language spoken in Afghanistan or the wider region is highly desirable.
