The Federal Government has banned Kwam 1 from flying indefinitely – See full Details of what led to the suspension
GoldenNewsNg reports that the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) confirmed the development, stating that the ban, which began as a six-month suspension ordered by Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo on August 7, will now remain in force without a set end date.
According to the NCAA, the decision is linked to an alleged breach of security protocol involving a bottle of water. Preliminary findings indicate that Kwam 1 entered a restricted area and obtained the bottle in the VIP lounge before boarding.
During a secondary security check, officers reportedly instructed him to dispose of the liquid in line with aviation safety rules. Witnesses claim the musician failed to comply and proceeded toward the aircraft.
Security personnel escorted him to the plane, where an exchange with the pilot reportedly led to water splashing on the pilot. The pilot, visibly upset, then returned to the cockpit and closed the aircraft door.
NCAA spokesperson Mike Achimugu stressed that these details are based on early investigations and that the case remains open. He added that incidents of this nature are rarely straightforward and often require extensive review.
To ensure due process, the NCAA has engaged the Attorney-General of the Federation and the Inspector-General of Police in the inquiry. The outcome of the investigation, including any possible sanctions, will be made public upon completion.
