Kano Gov Distributes Empowerment Packages to 1,130 Youth Graduates

Kano, August 9, 2025 — Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has distributed empowerment packages to 1,130 graduates from six entrepreneurship skills institutes, in a move aimed at boosting youth employment and self-reliance.

Speaking during the presentation ceremony, the governor said the initiative was part of his administration’s renewed effort to create jobs and equip young people with the tools to become “self-reliant, productive, and innovative contributors to the state’s economy.”

“In our renewed effort to bolster job creation for the teeming youth across Kano State, I distributed empowerment packages to 1,130 graduates of six entrepreneurship skills institutes,” Governor Yusuf stated.

Each graduate received both a certificate and an empowerment package tailored to their specific field of training.

Breakdown of Empowerment Packages:

  • Informatics Institute, Kura (250 graduates): Laptop computers and phone repair kits.

  • Livestock Institute, Bagauda (140 graduates): Bulls, feed, and veterinary medication.

  • Driving Institute, Kumbotso (250 graduates): Driving licences and certificates.

  • Horticulture Institute, Bagauda (200 graduates): Modern gardening tools.

  • Fisheries Institute, Bagauda (200 graduates): Fingerlings, weighing scales, and tarpaulin ponds.

  • Film Institute, Tiga (90 graduates): Digital cameras.

Governor Yusuf said the scheme was designed to “rekindle hope and restore dreams” for Kano’s youth, stressing that the administration remains committed to initiatives that drive economic growth through skill acquisition and entrepreneurship.
