The Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) application portal has been reopened for training centre submissions after a period of closure. Reports indicate that the portal is now active and accepting applications from interested centres, although the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has yet to officially confirm the validity of submissions.
Applications are currently open to registered businesses with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) seeking accreditation as training centres under three categories: Vocational Enterprise Institutions (VEI), Skill Training Centres (STC), and Mastercraft Persons (MCP).
VEI Requirements include CAC registration, adoption of NSQ-based curricula, at least one qualified instructor per trade (1:40 ratio), one Quality Assurance Assessor (QAA) and Internal Quality Assurance Manager (IQAM) per trade (or part-time equivalents), essential infrastructure, and documented training experience.
STC Requirements include CAC registration, NSQ-based curricula, a qualified instructor or senior artisan per program (minimum NSQ Level 3), at least one QAA and IQAM, adequate technical staff, physical facilities, and proven training records.
MCP Requirements include CAC registration or a National ID, NSQ-based curricula, at least one qualified senior artisan (NSQ Level 3) per program with a 1:5 ratio to junior artisans, basic facilities, and documented training experience.
Applicants can apply directly via www.digitalnbte.nbte.gov.ng/TVET/TVETApplication2, select their trade(s), submit the form, and use their User ID and password to log in and complete the process.
While the portal is live, stakeholders await NBTE’s official stance on the validity of current applications.
