FCMB Opens N20m Grant Application for Nigerian Agritech Startups see details below and link to apply.

First City Monument Bank (FCMB), in collaboration with the Dutch Entrepreneurial Development Bank (FMO) and Heave Venture, has announced the launch of a ₦20 million AgriTech Investment Readiness Programme to empower early-stage agricultural technology startups and small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across Nigeria.

The programme, which opened for applications on August 8, 2025, will run until September 12, 2025, with training scheduled to kick off in October.

What the programme offers

The initiative goes beyond grants. It is designed to build the capacity of agritech businesses, helping them secure funding, attract investors, and scale sustainably.

Selected participants will undergo six weeks of intensive training, supported by digital learning tools like Zimara a platform that uses alternative data and readiness benchmarks to highlight investment-worthy ventures.

At the end of the programme, 20 chosen startups will have the chance to pitch their solutions before a panel of investors and compete for the ₦20 million prize pool.

Why FCMB is backing agritech

Kudzai Gumunyu, Divisional Head of Agribusiness & Non-Oil Exports at FCMB, described the initiative as a strategic investment in the future of Nigerian agriculture.

“This programme is more than providing traditional funding; it is a commitment to nurturing and empowering agritech startups to contribute to the agribusiness landscape and unlock its full potential,” Gumunyu said.

Abiodun Lawal, CEO of Heave Ventures, added that agribusiness innovation could transform Nigeria’s economy.

“Agriculture is a powerful lever in the fight against poverty and unemployment and in achieving food sovereignty. Scaling innovation can revitalise value chains, create jobs, boost forex earnings, and strengthen Africa’s role in global food markets,” Lawal noted.

Who can apply

The organisers are calling on:

  • Agritech startups and SMEs addressing critical challenges in the agriculture value chain.

  • Businesses with a viable model, proven traction, or consistent revenue.

  • Founders actively seeking capital, partnerships, and market access.

Benefits of participation

Participants stand to gain more than just funding. The programme also provides:

  • ₦20 million grant pool for the most investment-ready ventures.

  • Investor & Bank Demo Day, giving direct access to funders, DFIs, and strategic partners.

  • Zimara Fundability Scorecard to understand how investors view your business.

  • Networking opportunities with buyers, accelerators, and industry stakeholders.

  • Hands-on coaching and growth strategies from bankers, VCs, and market experts.

How to apply

Applications are currently open and will close on September 12, 2025. Interested startups can apply via the official programme link https://www.zimara.org/sign-up.

The final pitch day is expected to take place in October 2025, where the top businesses will be unveiled.
