FG launches Olowu Hope Initiative Women’s Fund, Donates N2m

The Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim fsi, has restated her commitment to empowering women as she launched the Olowu Hope Initiative Women’s Association Fund in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The event, held in the Owu Kingdom, was part of the Minister’s one-day working visit to the state. She described the project as a platform designed to uplift women economically and enable them to play stronger roles in national development.

“I see this as a noble initiative that will empower women who, in turn, will contribute to strengthening our national economy,” she said.

Cultural Display in Owu

The Minister was warmly received by the Owu people and witnessed a colourful display of their traditions. She praised the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Prof. Saka Adelola Matemilola (Otileta VII), and his wives for preserving the kingdom’s cultural heritage.

“I was delighted to share in their joy, dance to the traditional songs, and stand in solidarity with their efforts,” Sulaiman-Ibrahim noted.

Personal Support for the Fund

To back the launch of the initiative, the Minister announced a donation of ₦2 million, along with 50 bags of rice and Ankara fabrics. She explained that the food items and materials were provided in partnership with the Nigerian Customs Service, led by CG Bashir Adeniyi Adebayo.

Ogun First Lady, Others Present

The occasion was attended by the First Lady of Ogun State, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, and the State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hon. Adijat Motunrayo Adeleye-Oladipo. Both were applauded by the Minister for their continued efforts to promote women’s development in the state.

Gratitude to the Owu People

Reflecting on the visit, Sulaiman-Ibrahim expressed appreciation to the community for their hospitality.

“The warm reception I received from the people of Owu will remain memorable. I deeply appreciate their culture and resilience,” she said, adding that she looks forward to future engagements with the women of the kingdom.
