Zenith Bank Begins Issuing Accounts to YEIDEP Beneficiaries
Zenith Bank has started sending account details to participants of the Youth Economic Intervention and Deregulation Programme (YEIDEP),confirming a new stage in the rollout of the federal youth empowerment scheme.
Beneficiaries are receiving their new account numbers via SMS and email. The text message sent out reads:
“Dear [Candidate], Your Zenith Bank Acct No. is [1234567890]. Kindly visit any of our branches to get an ATM Card. Thank you for banking with us.”
The accompanying email, titled “New Banking Relationship,” provides account details, encourages beneficiaries to pick up their debit cards, and outlines steps to activate mobile and USSD (966# EazyBanking) banking services.
The development follows last week’s YEIDEP stakeholders’ implementation retreat in Abuja, where Zenith Bank reiterated its support for youth-driven economic growth. “We believe in the power of youth-led innovations and entrepreneurship to drive sustainable development. Zenith Bank is proud to stand with YEIDEP in building a brighter future,” the bank said in a statement.
However, officials clarified that receiving an SMS or email from Zenith Bank does not in itself confirm a candidate’s shortlisting. According to programme coordinators, the first phase of registration has closed with over 8,000 verified participants enrolled.
