NECO Releases 2025 SSCE Results: Over 1.1 Million Candidates Secure Five Credits and Above

 

GoldenNewsNg reports that the National Examinations Council (NECO) has officially released the results of the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) Internal, with over 1.1 million candidates achieving five credits and above across various subjects.

The Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of NECO, Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, announced the release at the Council’s headquarters in Minna.

Performance Breakdown

Out of 1,367,210 registered candidates (685,514 males and 681,696 females), a total of 1,358,339 candidates sat for the exams.

  • 818,492 candidates (60.26%) secured five credits and above, including Mathematics and English.

  • 1,144,496 candidates (84.26%) obtained five credits and above, irrespective of Mathematics and English.

Wushishi commended candidates for improved performance while noting that the Council continues to maintain strict standards in its examination processes.

Irregularities and Sanctions

The NECO boss revealed that:

  • Results from eight schools in Lamorde LGA, Adamawa State, were withheld due to a communal clash that disrupted examinations between July 7 and 25, 2025. Thirteen subjects and 29 papers were affected. The Council is engaging with state authorities to reschedule affected exams.

  • 38 schools in 13 states were implicated in mass cheating and will face sanctions after appearing before the Council Headquarters.

  • Nine supervisors were recommended for blacklisting over offences including aiding malpractice, lateness, poor supervision, unruly behavior, assault, and insubordination.

Candidates can check their results online by following these steps:

  1. Visit the official NECO portal: results.neco.gov.ng

  2. Select your examination year (e.g., 2025)

  3. Choose your exam type (SSCE Internal or External)

  4. Enter your NECO Examination Number

  5. Input your NECO Result Checking Token Number (purchase available on the portal)

  6. Click Check Result to view and print your statement of results.
