The Federal Government has begun the issuance of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) identity cards to the first batch of 58,000 shortlisted trainees under its ongoing skills-to-jobs programme.
The Federal Ministry of Education (FME) confirmed that the ID cards are now available for download on the trainee dashboard. Each card carries the trainee’s photograph, name, TVET code, and signature, and serves as an official verification document at accredited training centres across Nigeria.
According to the ministry, this marks a key phase in the implementation of the TVET initiative, aimed at improving trainee verification, monitoring, and transparency across all 1,600 approved training centres.
“This process is designed to ensure proper identification of trainees and accountability within the Skills-to-Jobs programme,” a senior ministry official explained.
The government noted that while 58,000 trainees have already been matched to centres, the overall target remains to train and empower 150,000 Nigerians nationwide.
Applicants whose status is still “pending” have been advised to keep checking their dashboards as placement continues in batches.
The TVET programme, launched under the Federal Ministry of Education, is one of the cornerstone initiatives of the current administration to curb unemployment and promote skills-based learning. The new digital ID system will enhance data integrity, programme tracking, and nationwide coordination.
