President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Chief of Staff has announced a New Opportunity for Nigerian Youth, sharing how to apply.
GoldenNewsNg reports that Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu and founder of the Legislative Mentorship Initiative (LMI), has announced the opening of applications for the programme’s fourth cohort.
The initiative, which empowers young Nigerians with the skills and exposure to excel in governance and public service, began accepting applications on October 1, 2025, and will close on October 14, 2025.
Open to Nigerians aged 21 to 35, the programme offers mentorship in Public Sector Leadership, Governance, Policy Design, Legislative Drafting, Public Administration, International Relations, and Diplomacy.
Organisers explained that LMI was created to build a new generation of ethical and visionary leaders who understand governance from within and can drive sustainable national development.
Launched by Gbajabiamila to bridge the gap between young professionals and real-world governance, the initiative combines theoretical learning with hands-on exposure to legislative processes. Participants learn directly from experienced legislators and governance experts, gaining practical insights into policymaking and leadership.
Programme coordinators described LMI as a leadership accelerator designed to strengthen Nigeria’s democratic institutions through ethics-driven public service and responsible governance. Its mission, they said, is to produce leaders who embody transparency, accountability, and vision.
Organisers outlined three major benefits for successful applicants:
-
Policy Expertise: Fellows gain hands-on experience in governance and legislative processes, guided by policymakers who have shaped Nigeria’s laws and policies.
-
Professional Networking: Participants join an influential alumni network across government, private, and nonprofit sectors, promoting collaboration and continued mentorship.
-
Real-World Impact: Fellows contribute to legislative research and analysis that influence Nigeria’s governance and policy direction.
The initiative’s motto, “Our Youth, Our Tomorrow, Today,” underscores its goal of nurturing young leaders who combine competence with compassion and a deep commitment to national progress.
To qualify, applicants must be Nigerian citizens aged between 21 and 35 with a demonstrated interest in governance, leadership, or public policy. The programme welcomes participants from all educational and professional backgrounds.
Applications are to be submitted via the official website: www.lmi.ng. Organisers encouraged early submissions and advised candidates to highlight their leadership experience, passion for service, and vision for Nigeria’s future.
According to LMI officials, Nigeria’s long-term success depends on developing young leaders who are ethical, innovative, and service-driven. As the fourth cohort begins, the Legislative Mentorship Initiative continues to position itself as a vital platform for shaping the next generation of policymakers and public servants.
