Oby Ezekwesili, a former Minister of Education has lamented about how abduction is now used as a form of business by bandits and other abductors.
Reacting to the abduction of the students and staff members of the Government Science College, Kagara in Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State, Ezekwesili said that abduction is now a flourishing industry which is built on the principles of demand and supply.
The BBOG campaigner also threw accusation by saying that the “government is throwing the friendship with bandits on the faces of citizens.” She made this comment via tweets on her Twitter page on Friday, February 19.
She tweeted;
“There’s now an industry of abduction flourishing on basic market principles of demand and supply. It is enabled by a strange incestuous relationship between government and abductors. Folks in Federal and State Governments are throwing this friendship in faces of Citizens. SHAME.”
In another tweet, the activist charged the government to provide a development on the rescue of the Kagara victims. According to her, President Buhari should secure their release just like he did with the Kankara boys.
She tweeted;
“Still no positive development on the #KagaraBoys abduction, @NigeriaGov ? Truly disastrous that Education is now under daily threat of barbarism. May God keep them safe until President @MBuhari reaches out to their abductors like he did for #KankaraBoys in Katsina. ✍🏾”
