…bestows Fellowship awards on Journalists
As part of its effort to ensure that citizens do not regret exercising their franchises, a non governmental organization NGO, has called on politicians and various stakeholders in the country to create the enabling environment for the citizens to enjoy the dividends of democracy.
In an intensive training that lasted two weeks in Minna, the Executive Director International Center for Sexual Reproductive Rights, INCRESE, Dorothy Nuhu Aken’Ova over the weekend said the basic things Nigerians need for the country to retain its place are good governance, equity, fairness, justice and other dividends of democracy.
In her words, “we want good governance that is transparent and a Government that has respect for human rights.
“All the participants were trained on how to track budgets, how to be involved political, how to improve the health sector and to help citizens know and understand their rights. Our Fellows were also carefully selected”.
While adding that 17 participants from across Nigeria had an intensive two week training program, she said “we contacted them through our social media platforms for those who are ready to become social change agents and we are happy for these social changers”.
Furthermore, Aken’ova said the facilitators ensured that all participants who scaled through have their voters card because it shows that they exercise their franchise.
Apart from the 17 participants, five journalists including Daniel Okpole Atori of the Golden News Online was awarded a Fellow of P3HD by the Organisation for their contributions in promoting social change.
