Following the recent development on Imo PDP , The embattled former Governor has been battling for political survival following his stormy relationship with the Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma. This has led to a series of political maneuvers which may see the former Governor, including his son in-law Uche Nwosu and Senator Ifeanyi Ararume make a jump to the PDP.
This is a complex plot which involves Rocha’s Okorocha’s new friend, Wike on one side against Aminu Tambuwal on the other side.
According to the transcripts of secret meetings, the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike is said to be looking to expand his political influence ahead of the 2023 Presidential elections.
A long time friend and ally of the Rivers State Governor, Senator Samuel Anyanwu has been earmarked as the Gubernatorial candidate of choice in this permutation.
Recall that Senator Samuel Anyanwu has been a long time political foe of the former Governor Emeka Ihedioha whose tenure was brutally cut short by the Supreme Court. Samdaddy and Ihedioha had battled it out in the PDP governorship primaries. A case which took a supreme court judgement in favor of Ihedioha to put to rest.
This plot if it succeeds may see the resignation of Chief Charles Ugwu led Imo PDP executives.
This does not look good for Imo PDP as some of the party leaders may be forced to jump ship when the tsunami commences.
Nigerian News Daily gathered that following series of meetings in Abuja, the plot seem to be gradually coming to a head.
They started with the National Working Committee of the party where any moment from now, the national Chairman of PDP may resign. He is not prepared to confront the powers that be in the PDP.
The National Chairman does not seem to have much support from the North, following their inability to convince former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to join in the plot.
In Imo, things might turn out differently as there is a possibility to see Emeka Ihedioha and Uche Nwosu on a PDP ticket.
