A lawyer based in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State, Darlington Odume, has been shot dead by some yet-to-be-identified gunmen.
Goldennewsng.com gathered on Thursday that Odume was shot dead by the hoodlums on Wednesday evening.
The lawyer popularly known as Omekagu was shot at a supermarket at Amaifeke in Orlu.
The assailants stormed the supermarket at Umudara Amaifeke, Orlu on motorcycles and shot him on the chest and zoomed off.
It was gathered that the slain lawyer was rushed to a hospital in the area but was rejected and referred to the Imo State University Teaching Hospital, Orlu.
He, however, died on the way to the teaching hospital.
Our correspondent learnt that the slain lawyer had his chamber in Orlu town.
He was handling some of the cases of those arrested in connection with the violence rocking the area.
The Police Public Relations Officer in Imo State, Michael Abattam when contacted confirmed the killing to our correspondent on the telephone.
He said, “Investigations are in top gear to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident and to also apprehend the perpetrators of the dastardly act “
