Senator Ademola Adeleke has rejected claims that if he wins the governorship race in the state, he pledged to buy a plane for the Ooni of Ife, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II.
Adeleke is a Peoples Democratic Party gubernatorial candidate (PDP).
The news claimed that the gubernatorial candidate had pledged to buy a jet for Ooni Ogunwusi, according to Moses Olafare, the Ooni’s Director of Media and Public Affairs.
Senator Adeleke’s Media Assistant, Femi Babalola, said in a press release obtained strictly by DAILY POST that his boss, who was in Ile-Ife to pay obeisance to the Ooni for his absence during the Olojo Day, only convinced the Ooni that the family Jet would be available for him whenever he travels overseas.
According to Babalola, Adeleke stated that if the Oonirisa travels abroad, a helicopter will be given to transport him to the airport, where a family jet will transport him to his destination.
Adeleke also promised to restore the road going to the town, which was already in a bad shape, according to the media aide.
He went on to say that Adeleke had expressed his displeasure with the status of the roads in the state and pledged to prioritize road restoration, particularly in Ife, which is considered the Yoruba nation’s birthplace.
“However, at no time did he mention that he will purchase a jet for the Imperial Majesty, the Media Assistant only quoted the governorship flag bearer of the PDP out of context.
“We are not accusing him of getting a story as a media man but advising him to confirm the story before disseminating such.”
