… Decries deplorable state of IBB Pen house
Niger state Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has secured admission for 20 members to undergo various professional certificate course at International Institute for Journalism (IIJ) Abuja.
Chairman of the Niger state council Comrade Abu Nmodu made this disclosure while addressing the members at the 6th Edition of the Council’s General Congress held at IBB PEN House, Minna during the week.
According to Comrade Nmodu “as part of our plans to improve and ads value to our members, we have secured admission for twenty members as well as taken over the responsibility to pay half of tuition fees of four members who graduated earlier this year from the institution at post Graduate level”.
Comrade Abu Nmodu also informed the members that the Director General to the State Governor on ICT, Abdulberqi Ebbo has donated a HP Desktop computer to the Union.
Furthermore, he challenged Journalists on the need to work towards the development and progress of the state, adding that “the development of the state is key in the lives of all residents”.
He said “Members reportage of Government’s activities must be geared towards objectivity, fairness as well as accuracy and strict adherence to the conduct of the ethics of the profession.
“My door is widely opened to every journalists for criticism that will bring the needed development of the Union aimed to better the lots of members.”
The Congress therefore appealed to NIger state government and other senior stakeholders to assist the Union to bring the IBB Pen House to an appreciable standard, saying “does not augur well for the image of the state as people expect the only Press centre named after a senior Statesman like former Military President Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida should attract enough goodwill”.
