Men of the Ogun state police command have arrested 30-year-old, Risikat Olabintan, pictured above, for throwing her one-day-old baby into a soak-away pit.
Confirming the incident to newsmen, the representative of the state police command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, aforesaid her arrest followed a distress signal received by members of Ibukun Oluwapo Community, Ishaga, Surulere space in Owode-Yewa local government area that some children, while taking part in at the yard of their compound detected the cry of a baby within the soak-away and raised the alarm.34
”On receiving the information, the DPO Owode-Yewa, quickly led team of policemen to the scene where the baby was saved with the help of members of the general public. Investigation later disclosed that it absolutely was the said Risikat Olabintan who gave birth secretly to the baby and threw him inside the soak-away as early as five.am of that day, therefore she was appreciated.
