Atiku Abubakar, the 2019 Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s main opposition party, has called on the Federal Government led by President Muhammadu Buhari, to beef up security across border towns in Nigeria.
Goldennewsng gathered that Atiku Abubakar , a former Nigerian Vice President, made the call while condemning the bomb attack in Gamboru, Borno State by suspected Boko Haram members.
GoldenNewsNg reports that the explosion was planted close to a bridge between Nigeria and Cameroon border.
A report by DAILY POST quoted traders to have said that the bomb exploded during routine security checks on people, who are coming out of the market.
An eyewitness, Alhaji Tahir Mamman, who spoke with the online news platform, said he cannot ascertain the number of casualties.
“Today is the market day. The bomb incident happened at 3 O’clock when the people were returning home.
A lot of women and children have been killed. May God Almighty bring an end to our predicaments,” Tahir said.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian military was yet to issue a statement regarding the bomb explosion at the time of filing this report.
Reacting to the attack in a tweet online, the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar expressed sadness over the bomb attack, left about 30 people dead.
