Following efforts to mine data on COVID 19 vaccines and the current state of the Primary Health Care (PHC) facilities across the State, a non governmental organization, Follow The Money (FTM)/CODE has disclosed that it will ensure it will liaise with the Niger state government to give facelift to facilities across the state.
The North Central/Niger State Team lead, Follow The Money (FTM), Richard Abubakar Umar said on Tuesday at a community town hall meeting on COVID-19 Transparency Accountability Project (CTAP) ll for Niger State at Kaffin Tela Primary Health Care Centre in Tudun Wada North of Chanchaga local government area that the second phase project will address improved Healthcare funding and address the issues related to covid-19 vaccines deployment.
According to him “we will demand for the government to take immediate action in providing quality Healthcare services.
“We have visited PHCs across the State to know their statuses, get the percentages of vaccines received, administered and the ones remaining.”
Umar assured that the FTM/CODE with a track record of implemented and pragmatic people’s community oriented projects has the common man at heart as its core focus and will liaise with the state government to ensure PHC Centres get facelift.
He stated also that statistics showed the status of extension workers, Medical Officers, Health Technicians, Mid Wives, Nurses and Community health Workers in the state.
In their various remarks, participants urged the group to assist the facility with a borehole, perimeter fencing for security.
According to one of the community members, Hajia Binta Garba “we need security to protect the female staff from hoodlums who often have gang fights and when they are injured, they force the staff to treat them or get beaten up.
“This kind of attacks have created gear in us and to avert any form of rape and other Gender Based Violence (GBV).”
The In-charge, Mallama Ramatu Abubakar thanked the group for its role in ensuring accountability and improved Healthcare services.
