Popular Nigerian comedian who perfectly mimics President Muhammadu Buhari MC Tagwaye has moved a step closer to power as he recently got married to the daughter of one of Buhari’s aide a special adviser to the president on social investment. The wedding program which took place last week generated mixed reactions many of whom did not have an idea of how popular MC Tagwaye has become.
Obinna Simon’s journey into the world of comedy was not in any way occasioned by President Buhari’s rise to power. He has always been an amazing comedian eve when Buhari was in the opposition. But Buhari’s victory brought him more fame ad popularity.
All eyes were on MC Tagwaye as he performed at the grand finale of the All Progressives Congress campaign for the presidential election. Buhari watched in surprise as the comedian played his personality at the event to the applause of many people both at the venue ad on television.
His seeming addiction to president Buhari’s personality probably made him fall in love with the daughter of Maryam Uwais a special adviser to Buhari on social investment. He went ahead to tie the knot with her. His bride Hauwa Uwais is a Moslem from a very conservative Islamic background.
They would have had a grand wedding ceremony if not for the corona virus pandemic which has led to restrictions on public gatherings. Most of his fans did not see it coming and the news of his marriage has left many people in shock.
His popularity among top politicians in the country has also proved to be effective in transforming his social status as from an ordinary comedian to a fried of politicians.
In some countries of the world, sportsmen, comedians and other artists have made their way into politics and even occupied tp positions. Many of his fans that are happy about the new development hope that that will be the case of MC Tagwaye.
