Below are the Nigerian Newspaper headlines & Naija news today from Nigerian newspapers.

Good morning! Here is today’s summary from Nigerian Newspapers:

1. At least six people, including three policemen, were killed when gunmen opened fire on the convoy of Apostle Johnson Suleman, General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries International, Auchi, Edo State, on Friday.

2. The presidential flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu yesterday unveiled his manifesto for the 2023 general elections. The 80-page document tagged ‘Action Plan’ was made public in Abuja to stakeholders and supporters.

3. President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday declared the future of Nigeria is safer in the hands of the All Progressives Congress. This is as Buhari said yesterday that the APC-led government has managed to make Nigeria stable, laying a solid foundation for progressive growth. This was made known in a statement signed by the president’s spokesperson, Femi Adesina.

4. Barely four months to next year’s general election, opposition is mounting against the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu, with a plot to instigate the National Assembly to pass a vote of no confidence which could lead to his suspension or removal.

5. The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has said raising interest rates is not the solution to rising inflation. In his manifesto, Tinubu said the current increasing inflationary trend was caused essentially by global supply disruptions, saying addressing it is not by increasing the interest rates.

6. Governors of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike and Ebonyi, Dave Umahi were among the 16 governors that received awards for their outstanding performance in delivery of projects that impacted on the lives of citizens. President Muhammadu Buhari gave them the awards on Friday, at the maiden edition of Nigeria Excellence Award in Public Service (NEAPS), held at the State House Conference Center, Presidential Villa, Abuja.

7. First Republic Aviation Minister, Chief Mbazulike Amechi has stated that a political solution is being worked on with the Presidency to get the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu released from detention, following an order for his release made by the Appeal Court in Abuja.

8. The Federal Government has received knocks for filing an appeal at the Supreme Court against the Court of Appeal’s judgement releasing the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. Prominent socio-political socio-cultural groups including Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Middle Belt Forum (MBF), and Aka Ikenga, Friday, condemned the Federal Government’s appeal of the order for Kanu’s release by the Court of Appeal.

9. Anxiety has gripped politicians in Kano following the arrest of Aminu Ali Shana, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He was reportedly caught with 367 suspected permanent voters cards. The chairman of the party in Yautan Arewa ward in Gabasawa Local Government Area of the State, was nabbed on October 14th, 2022.

10. The death toll in Wednesday’s herdsmen attack on the Gbeji community, in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State has risen to 36. The lawmaker representing Benue North East Senatorial District and former governor of the State, Senator Gabriel Suswam said the killing of his innocent farming constituents was an indication that the Federal Government was sleeping on its responsibilities.
